Certified Proud’s mission is equality.

We want everyone to be able to book a hotel, order a meal, start a new job or seek assistance in a shop and know that they will be treated with respect. We aim to create a collective of safe spaces so that members of the LGBTQ+ community can live a life free from discrimination and unease. Certified Proud removes the unknown so you can travel, work and live with confidence. We heard countless stories from people who have experienced difficulties in public and in work because of their particular orientation or identity. From GPs refusing treatment to hotels or guesthouses only offering twin beds to same-sex couples instead of doubles, prejudice remains a real fear for LGBTQ+ people in even the most mundane activities. So, this is where we step in. If an organisation is listed as a member of Certified Proud, you will know that you are amongst friends even before you have stepped through the door!

Why is Certified Proud important?

Word-of-mouth is not enough to keep people feeling safe, and while some businesses are happy to raise a rainbow flag during Pride, the LGBTQ+ community need to know that they will be accepted 365 days a year.

Think of Certified Proud as handy Yellow Pages (or Pink Pages, if you will), keeping you up-to-date on all the companies that simply accept you for who you are and deserve your hard-earned cash!

We’re here for people trying to plan that perfect date, or the parents who want to know their kids will be safe when they travel, or those who just want to live their life without glances and ignorant comments. We’re Proud and we want you to be too!

Why join Certified Proud?

Thank you for being a friend! By joining Certified Proud you and your business are taking steps to be more inclusive, are building a more accepting society and are just being generally sound.

We don’t want pomp and circumstance, we just want businesses to signal their intention and commitment to offering the same service and experience to every person, regardless of how they identify.

In terms of the numbers, members of the LGBTQ+ community control a purchasing power of around €495 million per year in Ireland and are more likely to spend this money in areas that show allegiance and acceptance.

Finally, your establishment will be featured on our fabulous site in amongst all the other legends who have opted in.
